Fatima Bhutto slams dead aunt, family again, and declares political aims
Once again, Fatima Bhutto comes out to slam her dead aunt and her former cronies in the ground with a statement on CNN.com. She despises her late aunt’s methodology and blames her for walking instep with the military rulers that have in fact encouraged them to retake power over and over again. She then also talks about how the Bhutto clan has been torn apart by her antics and how she has abused the family pride to her use. She said that her tenure in power was all about revolving chairs and was only furthered corruption.
“Ultimately to them, it’s a game of revolving chairs. As long as they get to be in one, they don’t care who’s in the other one.”
Fatima Bhutto said her aunt played this “game of revolving chairs” at huge costs to the Bhutto family, shattering the clan’s unity. In 1996, Fatima Bhutto’s father, Murtaza Bhutto, was gunned down by Pakistani security forces in front of the family compound. His sister, Benazir, was prime minister at the time. His widow blames her sister-in-law for the killing, because Murtaza had become a political rival.
“We have to seriously look at her political legacy, which is deeply flawed,” Fatima Bhutto said. “Both her governments were known for widespread corruption, for an abuse of human rights, and for an excess of police violence.” (CNN)
It is the first time that I have read of her public declaration of political motivations, and interests. This is good news for all of us.
Fatima Bhutto said she’s a political person and does campaign for a splinter group of the Pakistan Peoples Party. That group is now run by her mother following the death of her father.
She said her main political goal is to empower Pakistan’s largely disenfranchised masses and end what she calls the perpetual cycle of “dynastic” cronyism.
What her role would be in making that happen remains the great unknown.
“What I think we need to do is open the field,” said Fatima Bhutto, who went to college in the United States and graduate school in England. “It has to stop being this autocratic, dynastic environment. … When that day comes and this happens — that we have an open field — if there’s a way for me to serve this country, then I would be proud to.” (CNN)
My personal fanship for Fatima depends on the fact that she is still a political virgin, and she believes in meritocracy and Pakistaniat. She is not the party hardy type like her cousin, Bilawal. She is sensible and articulate. I hope to see her safe, and go a long way for the betterment of the Pakistani nation. The article can be read in entirety on the CNN website, here.
“Ultimately to them, it’s a game of revolving chairs. As long as they get to be in one, they don’t care who’s in the other one.”

And what about Fatima’s party- headed by her step mother. Is it not the case of dynastic politics?

I don’t think so Raza. Her mother and her father started this party, and I am pretty sure the mother is still the chairman… Fatima still isn’t the chairman.
Just like Benazir, she too is a product of an era where personality cults were more popular. I believe they are somewhat less popular now. But, Ghinwa is still not guilty of passing on the baton to her heir, now is she? So there is a difference.
There is less to prove against Shaheed Bhutto group’s dynastic rule than that of Benazir Bhutto group.

Yes, Fatima is the only hope for Pakistan from Bhutto family- she is the real Bhutto by blood and intellect. I am a regular reader of her articles and it’s hard to believe that she can have this oservation and intellect to write these articles in a her young age. Her writings are based on very facts and concern of the welfare of masses is remarkable. But before she walks in to the real field of politics, she has a lot of chalenges to face. Intellectual like Dr. Mubasher Hasan could be a very dependable guide but do not have enogh votes which counts in democracy and the people who have votes are not dependable at all. So please Fatima, take care of yourself first and then politics. We do not want to lose you for nothing. You can lead but lead the nation carefully and wisely. FATIMA, a talented young girl and BILAWAL, a priviliged may lead the PPP if only Bhuttos have to do it.Although real Bhutos are PPP jialas-workers who always sacrify their life more than it’s feudals and drug lords leaders mostly included in central and federal committees/ councils. In 1967, the ppp was founded by talented people from all walks of life-the civil society, but fortunatly or unfortunatly party was headed by a feudal Z.A. Bhutto who was master of selling dreams to poor and oppressed people of the country. Poor and lower middle class played a role of worker for the party and organised it all over the country to grass root level. Later on all situation changed in 1977 when oppresser of the society, feudals were given way in the party and workers were ignored. Later on Z.A.Bhutto had paid a big price of his love for poors and was hanged by a general on instruction from other super powers. His young daughter replaced her gradually because of her talents of selling dreams like his father. She could not do any thing for oppressed people due to control democracy but his colleagues made hell of money and influence while in power. After military take over 1n 1999, she left for abroad and had learned lot of realities of the life and was anxious to do some thing for oppressed class of the country. But bad luck to poor people , she was assasinated mysteriously and lost her life. Now democratically PPP should have elected it’s leader and Iatazaz Ahsan, Shah Mehmud Qureshi, Yusaf Raza Gilani , Makhdoum Amin Fahim and Aftab Sherpao could have been very promising candidates to compete but there is no democracy no where in Pakistan so nomination brought Bilawal but it would have been much better to bring an other Bhutto, Fatima- a talented chrismatic in the fold to keep workers and oppressed people unite. This could have been done by Asif Zardari showing his GREATNESS and wiseness to nominate these two young Bhuttos in waiting list of leadership but unfortunatly Zardari did what a loving father should or could do- so nothing to discuss, let him deal with leadership of PPP and workers will be keep chanting jive jive Bhutto jive for decades to come. Sir,
Dare to raise your voice for the inevitable socio-political change in Pakistan, to empower the Pakistani , the country belongs too.
Since the creation of Pakistan the Pakistani people are left at distant from the corridor of power so that the ruling elite can do what they wanted to do in favour of their interest, leaving the Pakistani people at the mercy of circumstances. As this policy is denial of right of Pakistani people to rule their country according to their aspiration and desire to built this country, which can provide equal opportunity to all without any discrimination for the establishment of welfare society. Only the society base on tolerance, equality and justice can be the real guarantee for the prosperous and strong Pakistan there for your intention is invited to the crucial movement which could be the point of distraction or disaster.
We have already lost the major part of Pakistan in 1971 simply to save the centralised sole power to exploit this country by the ruling elite they let the country break in part then allowing the masses to rule this country democratically. In the present circumstances we are again dragging our sovereignty at stack for the external interest in the name of national interest, instead of our interest i.e. the interest of Pakistani people at large.
The only way out of these crucial circumstances is the only way to empower the common Pakistani at grass route level i.e. the change of system. This change is inevitable for the prosperous Pakistan .As a citizen of this country I have try to provide an alternate socio-political system to empower the masses at grass route level for rapid industrial and agriculture development with transparency and accountability in the system. Along with basic guarantees for the creation of welfare state, where in public representative and institution shall be answerable and accountable to the masses.
