Philosophy of a century, is the common sense of the next

Spare the cane, spoil the child!

I think that is how the proverb goes. I left this comment on a post on Bilawal Zardari on The Pakistani Spectator and the recent revelation of his scandalous liaisons. I have discussed this child’s talents and tastes earlier here. This is what I had to say in the comment,

This post is devoid of logic or reason. The best argument, if considered any, comes in the last paragraph in the form of Imran Khan’s example. But that too has no weight here since many or almost all people here consider Imran’s antics unethical and immoral, by all standards.

Political figures are public property… and the public has all the right to criticize and scrutinize who so ever they want in this game.

One last thing. Do we really want to see such people ‘rule us’ in the future consider the amount of self-improvement and introspection we need as a social and communal organ of this world?

I am sad, utterly sad, that my generation that had so much ambition for this country has yet again got to deal with a wining, dining rich kid who has clubbing on his mind…

Again, with the last posts on Bilawal in context of the comment here, it is easy to understand where I stand on the issue of illogical arguments. Of course there are ways of addressing such a situation with a pragmatic point of view, but pragmatism in our society is like the rain in a desert.

  1. [...] I reviewed a post published with The Pakistani Spectator about Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in this post at Silence last week. It was about Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Phil has discussed the same post on his blog and I found his comment interesting though I don’t feel like lining with Phil. You can find his view here. [...]
