Jasmeen Manzoor kicks a lot of good ass!
And I seriously mean every word of that title!
Jasmeen Manzoor used to be a street-show host, and now a political interviewer, has made quiet a bit of news these recent days. It was in her show that the former prime minister of Pakistan Mian Nawaz Sharif plunged at the camera of BusinessPlus studios on her show, The Pulse. As Teeth’s blog post has it,
Yesterday Business Plus host Jasmin Manzoor for The Pulse was invited for a one on one interview with Nawaz Sharif at his home at Raiwind in Lahore. For starters the interview appeared to be fine until Jasmine touched on a few sensitive issues with Nawaz Sharif specially his controversial 10 year deal with Musharraf and his relationship with the Saudi government, he suddenly got angry to the extent that the plunged at the camera to confiscated the video threatening Jasmine and the Business Plus TV crew to not talk about it.

I watched her program last night in which she literally took apart every illogical utterance of a PPP ticket holder from Pakistan, I can’t remember his name, but man did she make a girl out of him. She nearly too down every other conspiracy out there that is doing the rounds and proved to him on television how his thinking was biased against a certain group of people and how hypocritical his stance was when he called himself a ‘liberal’ by saying such things and looking everything like a feudal wearing a black shawl and shalwar kameez to an interview.
Without being completely in your face obnoxious interviewer like Hamid Mir, etc. she gave the interviewee perfect time and space to present his point of view, if he had one of his own, and to explain how idolized his love for ‘BB’ was and how he was mad for her. Seriously, these people are at the brink of delusion!
Jameen Manzoor does a good job, and being a lady in this business takes real guts. Keep up the good word for being impartial, unlike Talat Hussain who speaks from his ass about the love he gets from that orifice and some political parties.
Addition I Even if Jasmeen Manzoor is working for a television channel who has heads in the current government, it makes her take down of rest of the political parties more valid since she has nothing to lose, and the awam are getting more clarity in the blurred picture. Moreover, I bet she is not paid underhand to have such a stern stance, if anyone has watched any of her other shows, she is quite hakar bakar.

After analyzing and observing your talk show a while back with two guests of PML(N) and one of PPPP upcoming with a variety of MQM leaders on phone your conclusion commenting that your programme is not to offend anyone but yes one thing for sure it is to defend those who you personally choose that is why some strongly comment enjoying the excess previlege given to them but what is actually a pity to see you arrogantly snapping at the guests as if they are called just to be humiliated. In the educated public view you and your show must work out on maintaining some kind of dignity and decorum.

Dear Jasmeen,
I got to see your program on 20th February night with PML-N and PPP representatives. It was a complete hard talk show and I personally admired your confidence and political wit. Although I voted and belong to the winning party of Karachi as you belong to ‘President’s party’, the way showwas conducted was biased and lack a discipline which a TV talk show should maintain. There are things which should be kept descrete and not to be used to humilate the guests who so ever. Ofcourse there are ways to take a hand of people and audience are well at picking up the truth from it. Overall, it was good for one time!
I am sure your upfront and aggresive attitude will take your career to greater hights and you are an high stake asset for Business Plus channel.

I won’t defend anyone here, but I think people who end up coming on her shows do so by choice. They are not forced. Moreover, I have seen other more less respectable anchorpersons on TV, and she has nothing near them. We should appreciate someone who scrutinizes and ‘asks the questions’ that needed asking.
Having that said, let me tell you this blog and this blogger has nothing to with her and her affiliates.

I never used to watch Business Plus, but suddenly or u can say accidently I saw ur program on 20th of feb when I was just getting bored and changing-n-changing my tv channels … the program was gr888888 … For the very first time in Pakistan I have seen an anchor who can defend our government, otherwise each and every private channel anchor always do blame the government and specially our president Pervez Musharraf …You are far better than so called anchors such as Hamid Mir, Kamran Khan, PJ Mir, Sohal Waraich, etc who dont have an opinion of their own, they can only speak what they are taughty i.e. always speak anti government …

Dear Jasmeen,
I am quite amazed about the way you conduct your shows/interviews. I believe it really pays off to take out time and watch your show. Many complements to you and the Business Plus team to allow such a show to be aired.
@Mrs. Ayesha Jatoi : The guests appearing at the show, represented their parties and are expected to have their facts and figrures stratight. With that being said if a rep does not feel confident in throwing out wrong figures about their vote banks(this is regarding Feb 20th. telecast and specifically talking about the PML-N rep)…yes they will be humiliated on their own, the host only questions on behalf of the citizens of Pakistan, which is their job. Since the show is being aired to the masses regardless of the host, only true and appropriate info must be shared.

She’s been given bad words because of her neutral approach. One should be decent enough to comment specially on a female publically. While appreciating Jasmeen’s show, I would like to condemn the bad words used above.

Jasmine has a grip over her subject, however she should have a same yard stick for every host. All hosts desreves to be treated with dignity irrespective of thier views or deeds. I could’nt beleive my sight when i saw her interviewing Salman Taseer, was she the same “JASMINE” noding her head of what ever Mr. Salman Taseer was stating (I still wonder why).
I guess she either imitates Mubahsir Lucman who himself has no respect for any one and like her he chews a weak host but laid back when confronted with a stronger one. You can do much better Jasmine, just change your attitude and pose the same question you may want to ask.

The thing I like about Jasmeen Manzoor is that her questions are very objective and logical. While Shahid Masood is merely his own ideas and theories. Probably that is why his show is named “Mere Mutabiq.” Once the guest answers his question in a way that is to-the-point, he usually doesn’t have a follow-up argument, and that answer stays valid.
But yes, both of them have their own place.

I’m a Chartered Accountant, qualified from England and now residing in Islamabad, working as a management consultant, although Karachi is where I was born and raised. Watched a few days ago your interview of MQM leader Altaf Hussain. My stomach turned over as I cringed watching your emotions and admiration for a mass-murderer terrorist – the way you said…” baree tamanna hai aap se millne ki…London aayee to InshaAllah zarroor aaon gii”. Whatever faith I had left in journalism and reporting as being a potential savior of Pak’s fortunes have now evaporated. This is coming from a Punjabi who despite being born in Karachi was told that the place belonged to the Urdu-speaking, and a witness to Altaf hussain’s public speech hair-raising rantings in which he openly in ‘88 run-up to the General elections, talked about “sending Punjabis in their coffins back to Punjab” etc. etc. If it makes any difference to you, we living in Gulshan-e-Iqbal were on MQM’s “hit-list” – just because of our ethnic origin.
Now, we all know about the moral standing of the majority of political leaders of Pakistan, but really in all honesty, reporters and journalists like you are no different as they are also prepared to sell their souls and their moralities just to further their careers and professional fortunes. Now, as a matter of fact if I being an ordinary citizen of Pak know so much about Altaf Hussain and MQM, it is not credible or even conceivable that a reporter and journalist of your standing would be so naive so as to not know of the acts of this person – a muderer of thousands of Punjabis and Pathans. You folks have access to intelligence reports. Heck, even you must know that this is the person who was sentenced to lashes for burning Pak’s flag on Quaid’s mausoleum in ‘74 and one who in India called the creation of Pak “biggest mistake of 20th Century”. And May 12th carnage is still fresh in the mids of Paks – you interviewed the ANP leader, didn’t you?
So hats off to you Jasmeen, for proving that you media lot are just equally faceless and lack any morals as compared to the politicians that you rant and rave about – ones who change loyalties and are soul-less creatures willing to to do anything if that means any benefit to them.
The ones who have suffered family tragedies due to MQM – innocent casualties etc. would be right in holding people like you by the collar on Judgement Day as we did not have any power but you as reporters owed it to the people of Pak to safeguard the nation’s interest – and that’s where you failed them like so many others.

His performance in India as shown on Geo where he calls Pak’s creation the biggest mistake of 20th Century – you want tapes – Geo has shown them a number of times.
Pakistan Intelligence reports…again you must have recourse. and being a journalist and someone so much into these messy politics, your claim seems pretty weak that you in all honesty do not regard MQM to be a terrorist organisation. Canadian courts have also pronounced them to be terrorist, havent’ they….and you must know about it surely.
So please, conjure up some conscience instead of looking the other way as that is merely putting you in the same bracket as the soul-less and faceless politicians of Pak.

And Jasmeen, a final word on the “evidence” bit….
In all fairness and with all due respect, investigative journalism is your domain, so if anything, instead of asking me for evidence, you are much better equipped and resourced please to gather that in light of such overwhelming pointers. A cursory discussion with Pak’s ex-interior ministers would go a long way there, especially the ones who handled the MQM monsters through well-deserved army operations in 90s.
A few other salient stark truths say a lot about the party and the leader under question..
The reported threats given to a number of journalists in the wake of May 12 reporting…
AAJ TV and Western media’’s exposure of MQM’s role in May 12 mayhem…..
The statement of the leader you so scandalously showed yourself to be enamored with….at a time when emotions were simmering amongst Pak people at the time of BB’s assassination that..”It is the third corpse of a sindhi leader that Punjabis have sent!” This is the kind of person you are so impressed with!!!
How in the world can you look yourself in the mirror and proclaim to be a Pakistani or Punjabi given the immoral pathetic show in getting sycophantic to a creature like Altaf is beyond belief really, given how well-educated you do come across. Our nation is beyond redemption and beyond any relief given the self-serving and hypocrite bent leaders and media-hounds hogging the limelight. A pity! I might be coming across as harsh, but in all fairness, you have been a major let-down.

I was watching your program “Plus” of Jasmeen Manzoor, kindly read my observation:-
1. Mr. Iqbal Latif is very brilliant economists of this country, he has deep understanding of the economic issues of this country, he has always suggested the workable solution for the economic problems of this country , he was right , what Pakistan needs to do is to develop the human resources by improving the skill of its labour , then to export this human resources to other countries ,where they would going to earn more , and then they would send their earning to their families ,this remittance will definetly helped in filling the gap between the import payment and export earning, will generate economic avtivities within the domestic economy, where domestic industry lack depth it can not take the growing labour of this country , we urgently required to export our human resources to other countries otherwise the unempolyed people continue to become the in put of viloent urban and religious organisations.
2. The household workers insurance is again a brilliant idea which can be executed through the State Life , this is the well established instutituion and can handle the work effeciently.
3. I think the economic and business affairs are very tricky issues, they can not be handdled by an anocher, who has no basic knowledge of economics and pricnciples of economic growth, I think you should hire economists and other business experts to feed properly the anchors of yours , she was yelling , bogging down the man like Iqbal Latif who is an expert in his own field , she was refering to the instituions building , the isnstitutions are build when they are allowed to work , in Pakistan , the military and pseuodo intellectuals have never allowed to build any institutions in this coutnry , you just not bog down an idea because you failed to comprehend out of your limitation of knowledge or understanding , the anchor may be asked to keep on wacthing the LARRY King show for learnign.
4. The anchor observation that the country made progress under Maushraf is true , this can happen under any government civilian or military provided it is last for ten years and billion of dollars poured in by the USA and her alllies, never in this country history the political governments were allowed to last long therefore they were never able to finish their works and never the political governments ever provided by the USA and her allies the needy investment, to complete their projects.

Please let us all respect each other’s point of view without being slandrous – every person has the right to have an independent opinion of own comprehension and understanding of a situation, according to one’s education, upbringing and compulsions; which all are not necessarily common with others or known to every one else. I am fond of your program on politics. Tonight You were seen grilling Mushahidull of PML(N). Believe you me I feel sorry for my country I love so much, it has landed in the hands of incredibly innocent politicians, no insight, no credibility, and dishonest, selfish with no fear of Allah. They are although elected by the unfortunate nation, with the hope that they will do something good for the Awaam, but they are filling their kitties.
They are so popular in the Awaam that they cannot travel fearlessly,when they travel on the road, they ask for full protection at the cost of peoples money, and at the cost of peoples convenience, poor awaam has to wait for the clearance of road for hours, the serious patients die in the ambulance, till the sawari of even a petty minister is passed.
I pray we get rid of these rulers, some honest, God fearing, awaam loving rulers.
Thru this column, I write to request you not to be biased, be neutral, and dont lose temper. be patient, I know you love ur country, thats why you some times look perturbed and ur face gets red.
War on terrorism, is creation of USA since 1979, prolonged by pakistani rulers, coz of their innocence and ignorance and illiteracy. I wish it had not happened and in 1992, they has acted and taken decissions prudently.

Jasmine is a good anchor but transparency cannot be one sided. To become great she needs to understand the reality that principles of Justice can not be forgotten. Restoration of Chief Justice proved that Rtd Gen. Musharraf’s decision was wrong, MQM support was wrong,delaying tactics by Asif Zrdari was wrong.Can she admit this and her mistake of being on wrong side.

Well I must say that in a country like Pakistan, where a sense of gender discrimination is rampant to an extent that a woman is largely suppressed and discouraged from active participation in the society, whereby, she cannot bring benefit by the talent possessed by her; somebody like respectable lady, Jasmeen Manzoor should be highly appreciated for her audacity by coming out as an exception.
Therefore keeping this in mind I think that the day requires those people to think prudently, who at the time of such political turmoil when the integrity of this country is at stake, conceive that her asserting attitude and partially critical remarks are quite insolent and fail to comply with the Pakistani politics.
I hope a sense would prevail…

Dear Jasmeen,
I strongly condemn your ways of being a host. First, because, while being ON AIR, one is not only the representative of a channel, but one also represents his personal and family background by the way one “behaves”. The way you run the show clearly conveys how you are being cultured and brought up.
Secondly, if your aggressiveness is seen in the context of “legal laws of media”, to your utter surprise, no any media law permits a host to insult his / her guests. One is infact abided by the media law to behave according to the “ethics of journalism” instead of “personal whims and desires”.
Third, please do not forget that you are not just a muslimah in name! Every article of Ethics in Islam suggest one to speak as if another one is not hurted. Your show clearly insults and hurts the sentiments of your guests.

Hi,
I just wanted to praise Jasmeen Manzoor for her brilliant work in this field. Else many of our so called TV anchors has no vision for the country. They never think that what they are saying will harm the country. Jasmeen always talk about Pakistan, she has never said anything which degrades Pakistan or our Army. This is the time to leave aside our personal grudges and think about the interest of our beloved country.
This is the only talk show where a common citizen can have his opinions unlike other shows.
I have watched few programs on other TV channels like GEO also. They talk always against PAKISTAN and whoever is in government. Hamid Mir thinks that whatever he says is correct and everybody else is wrong. One more program MERE Mutabiq. Don’t you people think that if Shahid Masood has that much proofs than why he doesn’t take them to charge in courts… What kind of program it is? you are trying to provoke people by saying your opinions. Why don’t they take common people comments on these issues?

Mutarma Jasmee…. a bold and NADER lady… this was the first impression I got about her, after watching her tv show. But gradually i also found that she is unbaised, which is really a damaing imression for any tv presenter. We all have our political views and those views bring us near to a poltical party. For TV presentor it is of vital importance that the veiwers should not get the impression that the host is baised. i think she is a LOUD supported of MQM. This can be seen easily in her tv show where MQM representatives are her guests. She gives undue support to MQM and is blunt to others. This means that she is working on an agenda……

I hv been viewing ur programs, some of them are really great, but some times, u r unable to get the best out of the guests.
Secondly, i ahve become so bored to see the same faces over and over again, they hv not much to deliver or to say, so ur prog. becomes boring, i switch off.
Bring ne faces, new guests from other walks of life, with new ideas.
All these politician hv been, and are suckinbg,blood, cheating public, throwing mud on others, uselessly defending their party, We dont want to see all that.

You are doing a great job. These part-educated thugs who get brought to power by our Masters abroad,each time for a price that the nation has to pay, must be treated in the manner they deserve (Nawaz shareef story). And good GOD , don’t you thrash them to bits.
I am glad you take on these shameless politicians and make a mince of them. I feel let down by the other tv hosts who miss no chance to creep to these looters.They have made their names but have not earned any respect from the educated who can read their minds and can see through them.
One biggest dis-service to the nation is how easily people are made to forget history .Can’t these anchors question about the empty promises politicians made in thieir campaigns? They forced the current rulers upon the nation as though they were the saviours and messiah.People have a short memory , they need constant reminders of all that has been done to them.
Shareefs must be exposed in the public and Zardari needs to be properly introduced as the smooth talking wheeler dealer that he is, not to mention his other attributes.
The 1973 constitution is portrayed as the best thing that ever happened. So why did we find it so different the moring after it was adopted in the NA, completely and shamelessly raped by a civlian dictator chief martial law administrator.
Is it not the duty of these tv anchors to tell the nation why our politicians never get proven guilty? No it is not because they are farishtas, or there is lack of evidence , it is because they never turn up for the hearings .They have rogue lawyers who have mastered the game, representing them.
The faceless supporting team of beggars keep their mantra going on the TV all 24 hours singing praises of their leaders . They all need taking to task and the nation helped to get rid of them and their owners.There is a special breed of women belonging to PPP and the PML-N , are a curse for the nation.They can say things on TV that make you think later if they are even fit to be left out in public.I do not want to be rude but honstly they deserve no mercy.Who do they represent?Thay have never polled a single vote betwen them.
If only half of these tv presenters were half as brave as Jasmine, believe you me we can become a nation with a bright tomorrow. Given our resources we can become a proud nation in a short time. Jasmine is putting in more than her share, others need to learn and remember there will be a day of judgement when we will all be questioned.All will get there as per Allah’s will, no VIP Roads will lead you there from Raiwind or 70 Clifton , Bilawal house or the infamous Surrey Palace.If we can mend our ways we can easily become accoustomed to the lavishes and bounties of Jannah, and continue living in comfort. Routes to Jahanam will be haram for us all. May Allah help us and wake us up in time. Ameen.

I happened to see a program on ARY NEWS ‘11th Hour with Jasmine’ . And was surprised to see such an anchor person on a big name like ARY. The way she speaks rather screams is highly offensive, uneducated, uncultured and uncivilized.
She should be asked and forced to speak politely and in low tone. With her current style she appears to be providing cheap entertainment and nothing else.

I mean she need to take training in hosting or leave it. Cheap very cheap way of hosting by shouting she things they are right or she infuence peoples way of thinking. BBC has a hard talk program which is really hard talk but it is constractive talk NOT shouting.
