Out of the Frying pan into the Fire!
Pakistani deportees were interrogated while being held in custody (a sort of an arrest) after returning to their homeland (read being kick out of the US). I wonder if this is some sort of over-efficiency, or a lack of understanding, or an operational mess on the part of the Pakistani authorities?
Rawalpindi: Around 70 Pakistanis landed at Islamabad Airport on Wednesday after being deported by the US. [...] The Anti-Narcotics Force took them into custody on arrival. The FIA Immigration department interrogated them. Many were freed, however, several are still in custody. (Daily Times)
Read the last line again, “several are still in custody…” Most Pakistanis leave here with literally nothing behind. They sell-off most of their assets to finance a new life in a new land. To live the ‘dream’, in the land of the ‘promise’. Which should explain their desperation to overstay. However, this makes one ask if there are any sort of re-naturalization methods in work that give these returning people a place to live while they restart their lives? All these cosmetic processes involving interrogation and debriefing do nothing but add insult to injury.
Sigh, moving on, in other news we learn of a foolproof security plan that has been devised for a ‘free, fair and transparent’ general elections. Should I add ‘rigging of’?
