SFL: Peshawar 1-1 Islamabad
In a match that was of two halves, I should say, Islamabad gave away a win in their first Super Football League match.
Afridi from Islamabad opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a penalty that was too obvious to be avoided. Amongst other fouls on Islamabad forwards inside the area, this one was given. Afridi converted and Islamabad looked in control as the their two international forwards from Nigeria were causing havoc in the Tribe FC Peshawar’s defenses. Their pace was remarkable but there was too much to be desired off the finishing.
The second half began with Peshawar taking control of the game and scoring with in 20 minutes. Adeel, scored from a loose ball that was crossed in from the right, and now cleared by the goalkeeper or the sweeper in time. He tapped the ball in as the Islamabad United defense was flat footed on a counter.
From there the match was more defensive from both ends except Islamabad making some good chances go wide of the posts. Some attacking substitutions saw Emeka from Nigeria to come off for a Bangladesh origin kid Qadir (?) who had quite a pace and was agile up front but the Peshawar team were marking those forwards quite well.
The ref could have let the play go on a few times, and could have booked a few more from both the sides, but I think it was fair enough a match. A result that is fair to both the sides.
In a post match chat to the presenter both captains acknowledged gracefully each other’s performance and accepted the result solemnly. Peshawar’s captain said that there were a few uncontrollable circumstances related to team chemistry and health that led to a poorer first half from their side.
Tribe FC Peshawar 1 – 1 Islamabad United
It has to be said, these teams are playing each other after just assembling 15 days ago. Tribe FC and Islamabad United however have players playing regularly in the PFF’s Premier League.
I have written an email to the GEO Sports people to provide us with more pictures and media for the even so we could make it a bit more livelier. I will post them as soon as I get them.

Geo is promoting more the cheer girls than the footballers..I couldn’t understand this attitude, as if the cheer leading is the thing we would like to excel.

I too feel the cheerleader aspect will bring rather a shoddy image to the ‘real thing’ they are trying to promote. But since testosterone goes wasted, they found a way to abuse it’s abundance, one way or the other. That was a philosophical and scientific answer.
But in reality they are ‘not’ promoting the cheerleaders. Your information is wrong.

We are working on trying to get media developed of players. You’ll all see much better promotions and media of all the players, the coaches etc in the next few weeks. We’re also working on releasing the website, wmvs, flash videos for the general public.
Please bear with us. We had only 2 months to put the entire league together.
Keep blogging.
Regards.
