The Tides of Darkness are here!

I usually posted stuff that hadn’t really been proof read thoroughly, so I went back and redid some part of this post.

Anyhow, talking rationally to someone who won’t budge from their bigoted views is a bit pointless. Someone said, “Arguing on the internet is like running a race in the wrong direction, your running, but there is no point.” (I actually modified this to make it more acceptable, the original version was a little condescending to a few people).

Similarly…

House

I am not a big fan of House, but I came across this and found it interesting so I posted it here.

I am kinda indifferent to what and when I post on this blog. Although there has much been going on and I’ve been doing some thinking lately, I still fee demotivated to post about all that here. Mostly because we are not ready yet. And partly because I have lost a lot of focus here and with blogging in general. Is it because micro-blogging is the new shit?

And let me add, back there I have said some shit that really holds no coherence with what I see or think these days. I’ve said stuff just for the heck of it. So I really don’t mean everything I say – let’s hope I haven’t offended anyone, never intended to…

The Cover of My Band’s First Album [Facebook Tag Game]

with 3 comments

This came out almost appropriate. Makes me feel kinda awesome, haha! Here are the Rules followed by my result:

1 – Go to “wikipedia.” Hit “random” or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 – Go to “Random quotations” or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3 – Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days” or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 – Use photoshop or similar to put it all together.

5 – Post it with this text and notify friends you want to join in.

This game has been adapted from Facebook. I made it using GIMP. The editing result could have been better. Anyways, here is the final product:

Lord of Thomond - Enemies Accumulate

Lord of Thomond - Enemies Accumulate

So basically this was the image I found on Flickr, the wikipedia article was “Lord of Thomond”, some Irish Aristocrat from the 16th Century, and the quotation was “Friends may come and go, but enemies Accumulate.”

Which is very true about the human beings. Most friendships are temporary, you’d like them to outlast the animosities that grow between you and others. Anyhow, this is a cool cover album. But If really wanted to pick a band name it would be “Disturbance”, adapted from the band name “Disturbed”.

You Boycott Indian Media (a Facebook group) and still end up watching Indian movies every weekend and listen to their filmi songs day in day out.

BTW, I found Ali Noor’s (of the Noori) blog, via Thandak.

War

with one comment

War is ugly. It can never be justified. But it’s necessary. Necessary to make gods out of midgets. Inject fear into people made to believe that a lot was at stake.

Ancient myths and epic fantasies tell of great battles of man and beast. Beasts from nether and beyond; taken down my men of courage and ‘god-given’ powers. Peddling their fake, make-believe stories from town to town, they are in search of a celebrated status… to become kings!

Beowulf vs GrendelThese tales of inhuman abilities about smiting the horrid have taken various iconic representations over the centuries. War is an event that involves courage and valor, death and destruction, fear and famine! War is imposed on people, both that fight it and those that become a victim of it. It has always been used as a effective way of gaining favor and changing opinions. Opinions regarding the (self-righteous) people who lead these wars. The more agreeable is actions, the more favorable the person – no matter how discriminatory or inhumane they. War leaves people with nothing but fear!

This fear is useful in creating an atmosphere of ambiguity, anxiousness and uncertainty which leads people into blindly trusting men who they think know what they are doing. Mostly due to the elaborate fabrications of their past achievements. Blind trust is dangerous. It’s more like an obscurantist’s bigotry. The will to just go with what the leader says. Leaving not only oneself at the mercy of a powerful few, but also risking the liberties of others.

If there was no war, there won’t be any death. If there was no death, there won’t be any fear. If there was no fear of the beasts or the enemies at the gates there won’t be a need for people to be kings and queens. Kings and queens who falsely claim to protect their subjects from the beasts that never existed, in the first place.

This picture above is an illustration of Beowulf fighting and killing Grendel, the monster. Read more about Beowulf here. I suggest you read books about this epic.

Dissolving Bonds

with one comment

The vocalist on this track reminds me a lot of Sajid from the Sajid and Zeeshan act from Islamabad. Sometimes some lyrics fit so well with you. Don’t take it a wrong sense.

And here you are
So much time did you waste from times before
So shut down your sky
Bow down, lights out and die

And now you go
The cold chill cracks a positive self-detach
Inanimate heart
Hurting razor throat

A destined goodbye
Bells rang out the day of your worst fear
Obscure graduation day
Left you but with memories to bear
Lost in the hopelessness
Seclusion cut your just as deep as knives
Dissolving the bonds
Time was set to fade away your lives

You said you would always your love
You said you would always be caring
You said you would never abandon
You said you said

-Dissolving Bonds by Katatonia, on their album My Twin (2006).

I suffer from chronic complacency and gluttony. Both of which end up making me fatter… and a lot of other things. A change of tunes comforts only to a small extent. I guess staying up so late isn’t that healthy either.

Authoritarianism

leave a comment »

There is a big difference between being authoritarian and being decisive. I hate authoritarian jerks. But I respect people who are decisive and clear headed. Authoritarian jerks are people who think they know something, and that it is correct, and make others believe in that! However a decisive person is more open to accepting the outcome of their action than someone who is more authoritative. Authoritarianism closes those doors through which one has to make an escape. Instead, they are willing to burn themselves to the ground and not give up their dogma. Be open and accept mistakes, it helps!
